Honu’s World
Hi, I’m Andy. I am a former oil and gas professional that currently made a industry switch to the health care industry. The career switch sparked when I started volunteering at a hospital part time. I enjoyed the environment and directly serving other people so much. After 10 years of working in the oil and gas industry, I walked away and started a new career at the very same hospital I volunteered at.
As I continue to grow older, I continue to collect experiences and perspectives I wish my younger self had. My wish to those who read my blog is to firstly give hope. There are many stories I look back on that are hilarious moments of “Why in the world did I do that?” or “What was I thinking?”. Secondly, to give you some lessons, take-aways or perspectives from my thoughts, stories. Lastly, to entertain. I hope you find these are some things you all can come back to for a pick me up.
WHY aHONUworld?
“Honu” was a nickname given to me by my sister’s college roommate. It means “turtle” in Hawaiian. To this day, I never really understood why she called me that. It just stuck. I am also a huge fan of Disney animated movies. Aladdin being one of my favorites (both the animated and live-action versions). “Honu” + Aladdin and aHONUworld was birthed.
Fun Facts:
- Born and raised in Hawaii. Matured in Texas.
- I am a follower of Jesus Christ and am always excited to share what God has done, is doing and what will do.
- I have a 4 year old American Bully named “Lilo” (yes, another Disney reference)
- I have a degree in Engineering (worked 10 years for an oil and gas company and decided to change industries recently)
- Huge Mixed Martial Arts (UFC/Bellator/One FC) fan.
